Whenever someone comes to visit in Phoenix, the first thing I plan is where we’ll eat breakfast. To me, it’s not only the most important meal of the day nutrition-wise, but also quality-of-life-wise.
I know. I’m very wise.
That’s why I take the people I love to the places I love, one being Vovomeena. It’s a Phoenix delicacy for the breakfast-goers with a fabulous outdoor patio (hip hip hooray!) and a quirky menu.

And by quirky, don’t expect two flap jacks, some soggy hash browns with a side of floppy bacon. The closest thing you’ll get to that slam is the Pawtucket West, but don’t even pretend like it’s the same thing.
The whole experience, though, is a bit quirky, which fits the nature of the area. Once you’ve decided between the Pain Perdu or Primrose Hill at the register, you can head back to the coffee bar to pick up your choice of Morning Moonshine (I always get iced black, but suit yourself), and pop a squat.
The interior is a bit of a funky, relaxing style, characteristic of the historic neighborhood, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the patio and lighting the room. The outdoor seating is wonderfully shaded and equally comfortable and, along with the Roosevelt theme, the exterior has beautiful mural art to set the tone right around the corner.
It’s truly a fantastic display of the community, culture and cuisine in Phoenix, capturing all the best in one dining experience.
Breakfast, brunch, lunch or all three, I think you’d really do yourself a favor to stop in your next visit to Phoenix.
